Principal’s Message

We are very proud of all of the accomplishments at MLK.  Our staff is committed to making an impact on student learning by providing a wide range of learning experiences. We welcome everyone to visit our campus and you will immediately see and feel that our learning environment supports student learning. We have worked very hard in helping our students to develop the necessary skills to have a greater voice for their thoughts and ideas. We are at the forefront in integrating technology as a way to change our pedagogical practices and to increase student engagement.

CAASPT is here!

As you may have heard, California is replacing the old pencil-and-paper tests taken each spring with new, computer-based assessments tied to more modern learning goals for students.

Called the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP), these tests replace the STAR program and most of the California Standards Tests (CSTs).

This spring, our students, like thousands of others across the state, will participate in a trial of the CAASPP program. Students in 3rd thru 8th grades will take the practice tests from  April 7th thru May 16th.

A new and better student information system – called Infinite Campus – is coming this spring! Paid for by Measure Q bond funds, Infinite Campus is easy to use, web-based (you can access it from anywhere) and has a mobile app so you can check attendance and grades with your smart phone.
